Paralympic and Dublin Stars Shine

Congratulations to Paralympics Ireland Athletes Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop on winning their sixth and eighth World Championship titles at the World Para Athletics Championships in London last night.

Televised live on Channel 4 and racing in front of a packed Olympic Stadium, the two Irish athletes copper fastened their status among the finest athletes this island has ever produced.

“When you come back to London and you look back at the Games here and consider how incredible it was the reality is they’ve set new standards and a new bar for how world championships should be done,” said Smyth after his win.

“Adding that all into tonight it’s just phenomenal to be here and to do it again.”

“I had my wife and my daughter in the crowd, and all my family and it’s those moments that make it all the more special, to enjoy it with the people that mean the most.”

The Irish team is backed by Flogas and Allianz Ireland.

Congratulations also to fellow Sport for Business members Dublin GAA and their backers AIG on winning a record seventh successive Leinster Senior Football Championship at Croke Park on Sunday in front of the biggest attendance of the GAA year to date of 66,666.
