Punchestown Added to Close Portfolio

The Punchestown Festival gets underway in County Kildare tomorrow and will run throughout the week.

This year it will mark the first appearance as a sponsor in Ireland of Close Brothers, the leading UK merchant bank.

It was announced last week that the bank was to enter a three-year sponsorship deal for the €35,0000 Close Brothers Mares Listed Novice Hurdle on Thursday.

Announcing the sponsorship, Managing Director of Close Brothers Commercial Finance Ciaran McAreavey said:

“In the ten years since Close Brothers opened its office in Belfast we have continued to increase our presence here with offices now in Dublin, Cork and Galway,” said Ciaran McAreaveym Managing Director of Close Brothers Commercial Finance.

“Our partnership with Punchestown reflects the commitment we have to continuing this sustained growth in the Irish market.”

“We are very much looking forward to expanding our current sponsorship portfolio to include the prestigious Punchestown Festival”.

Close Brothers already has a strong relationship with the Jockey Club in the UK and with former leading jockey turned media analyst, Sir Anthony McCoy.

“We are delighted to welcome Close Brothers as a new sponsor for the next three years at Punchestown,” added Janet Creighton, Head of Sponsorship at Punchestown.

“They have already showcased their commitment to racing in the UK and we at Punchestown look forward to working with the Close Brothers team to deliver a successful sponsorship experience here in Ireland”.

Ryanair, Ladbrokes, Guinness, Three, Bord na Mona, The K Club and Bollinger are among the prestigious list of sponsors at the Punchestown Festival.
