It was confirmed yesterday that RTÉ, who are a media partner to #Dublin2018, will stream highlights of each of the seven days of the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships on the RTÉ Player.
#Dublin2018 will be hosted at the National Aquatic Centre from next Monday, August 13th to the 19th of August as, for the first time ever, Ireland will host a major para sporting event.
It was revealed last week that TG4 would broadcast the morning sessions on each of the days on it’s free to air TV station and that it would carry live coverage of the Finals sessions in the evening online throughout Ireland and around the world.
The confirmation that RTÉ will join them in streamed coverage, and produce content across its platforms including for main TV and Radio news bulletins comes as an additional boost to the tournament and its main sponsors Allianz.
Each evening during the competition RTÉ Player will broadcast a half-hour highlights programme featuring the very best of the day’s action.
This will be broadcast live and made available on-demand across RTÉ Player’s website and mobile apps. RTÉ Sport Online will carry news, results and interviews during the Championships and John Kenny, fresh from the European Championships in Glasgow this week, will report for RTÉ News bulletins on TV and radio.
“It has been a great boost to the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships to have RTÉ involved as a media partners,” said Miriam Malone, Chairperson of the #Dublin2018 Local Organising Committee.
“They have already given great coverage to the event across all of their platforms and this is further amplified by the confirmation that the daily highlights package will be streamed live on the RTÉ player each day.”
The eight person Irish team that will compete at #Dublin2018 includes Patrick Flanagan, Ellen Keane, Ailbhe Kelly, Barry McClements, Jonathan McGrath, James Scully, Sean O’Riordan and Nicole Turner.
