Jonny Sexton has been quick off the mark to announce a new commercial partnership following hot on the heels of signing his new three year contract extension with Leinster Rugby and the IRFU.
The two may not be unrelated as well with Sexton unveiled last night as a new Brand ambassador for Off The Ball, part of the Denis O’Brien owned Communicorp.
The partnership will run until July 2021, mirroring his rugby contract and Sexton is committed to a number of event appearances, as well as regular guest contributions on-air and across all Off The Ball’s digital channels.
Communicorp Media owner, Denis O’Brien, has been a long-term supporter of Irish rugby and has renewed his commitment to Leinster and the IRFU, by facilitating Sexton’s partnership with Off The Ball.
In this way he can assist in the financial arrangements that will have been part of keeping Sexton locked down for Ireland without smashing apart the kind of wage and contract structure which the IRFU operates too with such great success.
“Off The Ball is thrilled to have Johnny Sexton on board as a brand ambassador for the next few seasons – particularly as we enter one of the most exciting periods in Irish rugby history,” said Off The Ball Managing Director Ger Gilroy.
“Adding Johnny to the team, alongside Brian O’Driscoll, Keith Wood and Alan Quinlan, further strengthens our rugby coverage and analysis.”
“Off The Ball is an exciting and respected brand and I am delighted to be joining the team,” added Sexton.
“I look forward to talking rugby with the lads on air and joining their infamous roadshows, whenever I can.”
