The FAI have cut prices for this summers eFlow soccer camps by one third from last year. There is also an online incentive of parent and child tickets for the summer matches at the Aviva Stadium which could bring the cost per child per camp as low as €20.
The provision of summer camps has become a competitive business with the Kellogg’s Cúl Camps from the GAA, a variety of camps in rugby including ones run by Brian O’Driscoll and National camps with international coaches such as those run by Basketball Ireland.
The FAI camps were launched at the Aviva Stadium yesterday by Irish internationals David Forde and Denise O’Sullivan.
This year’s camps cost €65 (€55 for second children), more than a third off last year’s prices. They are delivered by Garda vetted FAI Qualified coaches and participants at the 290 venues around the country will also get a full kit, a ball and a school bag carrying the eFlow FAI Summer Soccer Schools branding.
The camps focus on participation rather than competition and are open to boys and girls of all abilities from the ages of 6 to 14. Beginning on July 1, and running right through to August 23, each course runs Monday to Friday from 10.30am to 3pm.
Specialised goalkeeper camps are run alongside each of the main camps and have also been discounted this year to €50.
“Our Summer Soccer Schools are a great way of getting children out of the house and into the fresh air to enjoy themselves,” said John Delaney, FAI Chief Executive. “96% of parents rated the enjoyment level for their kids as ‘good’ to ‘excellent’ last year and we hope that with this year’s added discounts, more parents will be encouraged to send their children this summer.”
“eFlow are delighted to be involved with an initiative which encourages team work, provides skills development training and promotes healthy living among boys and girls around the country,” added Simon McBeth, Director of Communications and Customer Relations at eFlow. “We seek to support programmes that encourage active citizenship and community development at grass roots level in Ireland and the FAI Summer Soccer Schools are a perfect example of that.”
One real bonus for sponsors of camps is the year round wearing of branded kit and carrying of branded school bags that continue to carry the sponsor message throughout the year and are a constant reminder to parents planning for the summer.
