It was perhaps tougher than expected and while the scorecards at the end gave a comfortable victory to Katie Taylor last night, she admitted afterwards that this was one of the toughest fights of her career.
Nevertheless it proved to be a succesful first defence of her World Title and her seventh straight win as a professional.
As her first headline show, and with broadcasts of the fight going out on Sky Sports here as well as on Showtime channels in the United States it was as good an advertisement as you could hope for the sport.
Next up is likely to be a homecoming fight in Dublin in March or April.
Saturday 17th March is currently free in the 3 Arena, a date that could be of interest to US audiences given the Irish connection while both of the following Saturdays are already gone.
Saturdays in April are clear at the moment and no doubt Eddie Hearn and Brian Peters will be looking through their diaries for what promises to be the biggest night of boxing in Ireland since Bernard Dunne won his world title at what was known then as the O2 Arena in March 2009.
