DJ Carey was on hand at Croke park yesterday to mark the launch of this year’s Top Oil Leinster GAA Corn Uí Dhúill Hurling Championship.
The sponsorship will once again see Player of the Round Awards and highlight videos from the knockout stages of both Senior A Competitions.
Both senior finals in Hurling and Football will be streamed live again and Top Oil will be supporting another ‘Next Great Commentator Competition’.
It is a great example of how to get involved and add value to competitions which mean everything to those who are taking part and their local communities but do not get the same level of exposure as others.
Creating that exposure from within is possible within the new age of media on your phone. A 15-second clip shared by Coláiste Eoin in Dublin last week of a winning free-kick to secure a single point win in the Dublin schools Football Championship has already been viewed almost 30,000 times.
“We are very proud of our relationship with Leinster Schools GAA – our association with the GAA is very much a part of our company heritage,” said Top Oil Head of Sales Andrew Meagher.
“Working in partnership to develop the next generation of players through the school’s competition is something we at Top Oil are strongly committed to.”
“We are extremely excited to continue our partnership with Top Oil,” added Leinster GAA Chair Jim Bolger.
“Last season, in particular, saw a renewed focus on increasing the exposure and support players are getting at this level. That was due in no small part to Top Oil and their passion for our games. We look forward to another exciting year in what has already been a successful partnership.”
“There is no doubt that taking part in such a high-level competition improved me as a player massively,” said Kilkenny Hurling and St Kieran’s College legend DJ Carey.
“You’re playing against a cross-section of some of the best talent in Leinster so that only serves to ensure you are then ready for the step up to inter-county.”
“Carey also was impressed with Top Oil and Leinster GAA’s plans for the year ahead.
“It’s great to see a company like Top Oil really committing to future players. The work they have planned with Leinster this year will create a real buzz around the school game that will benefit all those with an interest in GAA.”
The 1st Round of the Top Oil Leinster GAA Corn Uí Dhúill Championship will take place on Wednesday, Dec 11th.
