Top Oil has signed on as the official fuel partner of the Affidea Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin Half Marathon taking place in Dublin next month.
The announcement comes just 2 weeks before the registration of the popular Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and Family Fun Run closes to the public.
Top Oil announced a new partnership with Irish Show Jumping in May and the company’s relationship with sport extends across partnerships with Connacht Rugby, Sligo Rovers and Leinster GAA where it supports the Schools Programme of competitions.
It also backs local clubs, is proud that it has had no fewer than eight All Ireland winners on the company books down the years and is a member of Sport for Business.
“We are delighted to be the official fuel sponsor of the Affidea Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin Half Marathon this year and we are encouraging the public to get active and sign up to this fun event,” said Martin Daly, Sales & Marketing Director of Top Oil.
“We are also looking forward to launching our Rock ‘n’ Roll competition where lucky Top Oil customers will have an opportunity to win a trip to Las Vegas.”
“Our company approach of Fuelling Ireland and supporting the communities we operate in is greatly aligned with Rock ‘n’ Roll’s approach and we look forward to inviting participants and their families to fuel up with Top Oil.”
There is a clear link between fuel retailers and mass participation events where there is significant domestic tourism and movement of people. The staging of the Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon and its associated races over the peak holiday period in August also makes good sense from a timing and visibility perspective.
“We are excited to welcome Top Oil as the official fuel partner of the Affidea Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin Half Marathon, which provides a unique, world-class running event and rock concert all-in-one,” said Stacey Campbell, Vice President of Global Events for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.
“We look forward to working closely with our new partners at Top Oil and celebrating five years in Dublin this August.”
Organisers also announced yesterday that Sinead Gannon from Roscommon is the winner of the Rock ‘n’ Run Idol competition.
The inspirational runner fought off competition from four other finalists in a public vote to become the 2017 Rock ‘n’ Run Idol.
Twenty years ago, Gannon was loving life and termed a very talented juvenile distance runner. Her career was only starting, getting faster and stronger each year, until a terrible day when her hamstrings snapped in a provincial race.
After being sidelined for 12 years with injury and fear, Sinead decided not to give up on something she loved and bravely laced up her runners and hit the road again.
She started running on her own, was quickly joined by three others and now has 130 people running in Roscommon.
After overcoming a personal journey from being a top runner to a beginner and now a coach/motivator, Sinead now runs for others. “I run to motivate people into doing Half Marathons and Full Marathons. I run because I know it betters me as a person in every way. I get so much from seeing others succeed.”
After taking part in the Dublin race she will now fly to Las Vegas to compete in one of the largest races in the series later this year.
