#WePlay Bringing Sport for Girls to Life

Swim Ireland will host the 2019 #WePlay Inspiring Girls in Sport Conference nest Wednesday, July 3rd at the National Indoor Arena on the Sport Ireland Campus.

This year’s event is also being supported by the 20X20 campaign, Sport Ireland and Fingal County Council.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Proud To Be Me” focusing on girls getting the most out of their sport and being confident in their body.

The day will involve a mix of panel discussions with experts working in sport and elite athletes. These will include discussions on “Balancing Life as an Athlete”, “In The Face of Adversity”, “The Un-Comfort Zone” & “Off The Pitch”.

A broad range of sports will be represented with athletes including Jenny Egan (Canoeing), Nicole Drought (Motor Racing), Caradh O’Donovan (Karate), Roisin Baker (Water Polo & Dublin Camogie), Laura Twomey (Dublin Camogie & 20×20 Ambassador), Chloe Magee (Badminton), Mona McSharry (Swimming), Nina Carberry (Horse Racing), Eve McCrystal (Cycling).

Sene Naoupuwill deliver the keynote address recounting the challenges she has overcome to build a career in Rugby and a life to inspire others.

With all schools on holiday, it is hoped that a significant number of young players will take the opportunity to come and find out more for themselves about what life is and can be like through sport.

Tickets are €20 and include a #WePlay t-shirt, all the talks, lunch and an opportunity to meet, get pictures and autographs with all the sporting stars in attendance.

Here is a look at what the day was like when the 2018 edition was held in October.
