Sport for Business and TG4 will host a special live Facebook programme on Saturday night at the Croke Park Hotel.

The show will be broadcast live on Facebook through the TG4 Facebook page and will cover the challenges and opportunities facing Women in Sport on the eve of the 2017 TG4 All Ireland Ladies Football Final.

Host for the evening Gráinne McElwain will interview Former Dublin All Ireland winner and now a star of the Irish Women’s Rugby team Lyndsay Peat, ten-time All Ireland Champion with Cork Valerie Mulcahy, World and European Boxing medallist Kellie Harrington and Champion Jockey Rachel Blackmore.

They will cover areas including how far Women’s sport has come in recent years and how far it still has to go to achieve closer to the level of engagement from fans, sponsors and media in the years to come.

Those advances have been many of late with brands like Lidl, Liberty Insurance, Littlewoods Ireland, Continental Tyres, Aon and many more throwing their weight behind key tournaments; events and teams.

Sport for Business has long been an advocate of the importance of promoting Women in Sport across participation and areas like coaching, refereeing and administration.

“The aim has to be to make Women’s active participation in sport as normal as it would be in teaching, banking, voting or the media,” said Founder Rob Hartnett.

“This has to start early and run through school and education into adult life so that the benefits of sport which have so long been more skewed towards boys and men can be felt by all.”

“We are making progress and working with TG4 on this live show will be another step on the eve of what will once again be right up there as one of the best attended Women’s sports events in the world this year.”

“TG4 has long been a supporter and broadcaster of Women’s Sport and on the weekend of the Dublin Vs Mayo Final which we will sponsor and broadcast we felt it was a good idea to turn the spotlight on the advances and what needs to happen next so that Women in Sport can continue to rise up in terms of awareness,” said TG4 Head of Sport Rónán O’Coisdealbha.

“This is one more step. Sport for Business will also be hosting the Head of Women’s Rugby at World Rugby Katie Sadleir, and the woman behind This Girl Can, Kate Dale from Sport England at the One-Zero Event taking place at Croke Park on October 17th.”

“We will then be hosting our third annual Sport for Business Women in Sport ‘Game Changer’ Conference at UCD on November 30th with an exciting lineup being pulled together for that too.”

There are a limited number of places available to join us at the Croke Park Hotel on Saturday night for the live show but registration is essential. Contact us today if you would like to be part of the evening.
