Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club has come out one of the national winners in the Circle K Cash for Clubs promotion for 2018.
The club wins €5,000 in cash which will go towards the purchase of new equipment. St Eunan’s GAA Club in Donegal also won a €5,000 prize while the top prize of €10,000 also went to the GAA with Killucan in Westmeath being drawn out as the winner
“Circle K Cash for Clubs was set up five years ago to recognise and reward the contribution made by clubs to their local communities,” said PR and Communications Manager Sinead Moriarty.
“Since then, over 3,000 clubs from all corners of the island have registered to participate in the initiative and we have awarded over €400,000 in cash funding to 450 worthy recipients to date.”
Bray Hockey Club won the grand prize of €10,000 in 2017.
“Cash for Clubs has been a huge benefit to Bray Hockey Club, not just last year, but over the past few years,” said Ruth McDonagh from the club.
“We have a very committed and hard-working network of members and supporters who are responsible for our prize wins in 2017 and 2016, getting behind the cause and seeing us over the line.”
“Fundraising is not easy for clubs, particularly smaller clubs and so-called minority sports clubs in particular, however, Cash for Clubs is a simple and accessible way for clubs like ourselves to secure the kind of cash investment that makes a huge difference in the day-to-day upkeep and longer-term development of a club.”
