SUMMARY:Sport and Education – Irish and US Perspectives
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Sport for Business special event on Sport and Education will take place on Friday, November 18th at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin.\nIt will be a part of a special weekend of crossover and connection between Irish and US education and sport with the hosting in Dublin of the MAAC-ASUN Dublin Basketball Challenge.\nSeven colleges from across the US will travel to Dublin and play in a men’s and Women’s competition bringing high-class College Basketball to our shores.\nThe teams will be accompanied by Athletic Directors and College Presidents who will join us for a breakfast session looking at the lessons that can be shared, and the connections made across the Atlantic.\nHere is what the morning will consist of:\n08:00: Coffee, light refreshments and networking\n08:20: Welcome remarks from Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business and Gareth Maguire from Inspirus Sports \n08:25: Discussion on the Importance of Sport to US Universities \n08:50: The Irish Experience of Nurturing Sporting Talent \n09:15: Lessons Across the Ocean – An Open Conversation on what we can learn from each other\n09:40: Wrap up and move to Arena seating for the opening game between the Rider Broncos and the Stetson Hatters.\n10:00: Game Tip-Off\nAttendance is open to education professionals that are members of the Sport for Business community.
