Every now and again you see a picture that takes your breath away. This is Irish surfer and Red Bull athlete Conor Maguire surfing off the coast of Sligo yesterday.
The images were captured by Andrew Kilfeather and made available by Red Bull and Inpho Photography.
There is no fear of social distance guidelines getting in the way as who else would dare step into the teeth of a wave like this at the same time as Maguire.
It was shot off Mullaghmore where waves reaching up to 60 feet were caused by a rare weather occurrence which saw a tropical storm Epsilon merge with a mid-latitude depression, causing a giant low, and giant waves.
When we get back to the business of sports tourism, this is the kind of image that we will need to tempt the world’s finest to head to our own North West.
