Special Olympics Ireland caters for a special community within our society, one that has been particularly vulnerable during the global pandemic. We caught up with Matt English to discover how they have been introducing new areas of work to ensure that sport retains its important place in athletes lives.

We spoke about the impact of the pandemic on those with special needs and the importance of retaining a strong connection with athletes, families and coaches.

We discussed the blow of missing out on the annual bucket collection and the tentative plans that are being put together to hold it later in the year.

We chatted about the Together at Home initiative; how the wider world of the Special Olympics movement has rallied around with Ireland’s Mary Davis at the head of the organisation in Washington DC and how the staff and volunteers of Special Olympics Ireland have stepped up to the challenges we face.
