Close to 4,000 runners have entered the Frank Duffy 10 Mile, set to take place this Saturday, 19th of August, in the Phoenix Park, as part of the Irish Life Dublin Race Series.

Dunboyne AC’s Peter Somba, who won in 51 minutes and 14 seconds last year, is set to toe the line, against Mick Clohisey (Raheny Shamrock AC) among the other elite runners in the field.

Somba dominated the 2022 Irish Life Dublin Race Series and won the opening race in the 2023 series, the Corkagh Park 5 Mile.

The second race in the series, the Fingal 10km however was won by Emmett Jennings (Dundrum South Dublin) who came home in 30 minutes and 35 seconds, 22 seconds clear of Clonliffe’s Sergiu Ciobanu with Dunboyne’s defending champion Peter Somba well adrift in third (31:25).

“I wasn’t feeling strong enough for racing that day,” said Somba. “The first 5km was good, but in the second half, I felt it. I’m pleased though I like competitive racing, and this was a really good race today.”

The next race after Saturday in the series is the Irish Life Dublin Half Marathon on the 23rd of September which is sold-out, followed by the Irish Life Dublin Marathon on the 28th of October which is also sold out.
