Image credit: SportsfileTeam Ireland has had a spectacular start to the Winter Special Olympic games in South Korea.   Ten medals, three of them gold have been secured in the opening days with Stuart Brierton from Bray, Co Wicklow adding to that town’s Olympic heritage.
Speaking about Team Ireland’s performance over the weekend Matt English, CEO Special Olympics Ireland said “Yet again Team Ireland have done us proud on this prestigious World sporting stage. I am absolutely delighted for our athletes and coaches who have represented us so well here in South Korea.”
“Such fantastic results don’t come easy and are the result of a serious amount of hard work and dedication, all of which stem from the weekly activities at Club level. It is wonderful to see that this preparation has paid off”.
The principal sponsor of Special Olympics Ireland is Eircom who have held that position since 1985.
They provide financial support to assist in the running of the organisation but also supply phone and broadband services, management assistance and placements for athletes within the company.
