The cessation of GAA club activities has had a knock-on impact on TV schedules with TG4 scrambling to fill significant chunks in its programming from this weekend.

The Cork County Football Final, as well as that in Donegal, were to have formed the backbone of Sunday’s line up but they have had to be replaced by some more Golden oldies.

Gweedore’s extra-time victory over Scotstown in the 2018 Ulster Club Football Final will now be followed by Ballyhale Shamrocks against Slaughtniel in last year’s AIB Club All Ireland Semi-Final.

On Monday night The Laochra Gael programme featuring Clare’s Seanie McMahon will be followed by the dramatic drawn Club All Ireland Final between Cuala and Na Piarsaigh from 2018.

Fingers crossed the following weekend will be back to live action with the opening matches in the Eirgrid All Ireland U20 Finals on Saturday followed up by three massive games in the conclusion of the Allianz League on Sunday.

Mayo face Galway needing a win to secure their top-flight status, and that will be live at 2 PM.

The on Monday 19th it is the turn of the small ball with Tipperary taking on Clare in the first Quarter Final of the Bord Gáis Energy U20 Hurling Championship.

We’ll hold our breath then, and keep washing our hands in the hope that such a cracking restart of normal service will be possible.
