Allianz has signed an exclusive sponsorship deal with RTÉ, becoming the official broadcast sponsor for the coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This exciting partnership, brokered by Starcom, will bring Irish viewers closer to the action and excitement of the Games. It will showcase the inspiring journeys of athletes as they strive for glory on the world stage.
Allianz will also be the first brand ever to sponsor RTÉ’s coverage of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As part of the agreement, Allianz will sponsor RTÉ’s comprehensive multi-platform coverage of the games, including live RTÉ TV, live RTÉ Player, and catch up on the RTÉ Player. RTÉ will broadcast 300 plus hours of Olympics and Paralympics coverage across RTÉ2, RTÉ Player and RTÉ News Channel this summer.
Alongside live action, the coverage will consist of a combination of expert studio analysis and insightful commentary directly from Paris as the drama unfolds.
The sponsorship will also encompass a range of engaging content designed to celebrate the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games while highlighting Allianz’s commitment to supporting athletes and the transformative power of sport.
This commitment dates back to the London 2012 Games when Allianz became the first broadcast partner of the Paralympic Games for Irish audiences with Setanta Sports. The games had not previously been televised live in Ireland and might not have been then but for the sponsorship.
“In Allianz, we’ve been a proud partner of the Paralympic Movement since 2006 and the Olympic Movement since 2021,” said Head of Market Management at Allianz Ireland, Mark Brennan.
“As the only global and local sponsor of both, we are incredibly excited for the upcoming Games. ”
“Paris is shaping up to be a Games like no other, and we are thrilled to support RTÉ in bringing all the action of Team Ireland to the Irish public.”
“We are thrilled to have Allianz onboard as our broadcast sponsor,” added RTÉ Commercial Director Gavin Deans.
“As a brand, they value trust and champion diversity, which makes them a great partner for the Olympics and Paralympics. This is also the first time we have had a single sponsor for both Games, and it is a testament to the level of commitment and support that Allianz is making to sport in Ireland. It is fantastic to have the backing of a global leader like Allianz.”
“The incredible performance of the Irish athletes at the recent European Athletics Championships has given Irish audiences a flavour of what to expect from RTÉ’s Summer of Sport. Together with Allianz, we look forward to bringing these huge sporting events to the people of Ireland and cheering on all our athletes.”
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 26th to August 11th, followed by the Paralympic Games from August 28th to September 9th.
Sport for Business will host its Annual Sport for Social Good Conference, in partnership with Allianz, on Thursday, October 24th. This is one of many events planned for the remainder of 2024.
