Leopardstown Racecourse has formally launched a stakeholder engagement process aimed at shaping the long-term future of the South Dublin venue, with the publication of the Leopardstown Campus Masterplan public survey.

The initiative marks the first step in reimagining Leopardstown as a year-round destination that brings together sport, entertainment, business and community life, while securing the long-term sustainability of Dublin’s only racecourse.

The Masterplan is being developed against a backdrop of strong recent performance for the venue. Leopardstown welcomed a total attendance of 67,202 across four days at its Christmas Festival, with similarly strong daily crowds anticipated for the upcoming Dublin Racing Festival over the February Bank Holiday weekend.

Speaking at the launch, Paul Dermody, CEO of HRI Racecourses, said the ambition is to broaden Leopardstown’s role beyond racedays while building on its existing strengths within Irish racing.

“We wish to transform the Leopardstown Racecourse Campus into a dynamic 365-day destination, evolving into a hub for sport, entertainment and community life in Dublin,” he said. “Our vision is to create a thriving space where people can live, work and play.”

Dermody added that the Masterplan is focused on enhancing the overall visitor experience and reinforcing Leopardstown’s strategic position within the national racing landscape, while also delivering value for the surrounding community.

“We invite local residents, businesses, key stakeholders and members of the public to share their ideas and vision to inform this Leopardstown Campus Masterplan,” he said. “This is a unique opportunity to help shape a vibrant and inclusive future for the area. Your voice matters, and we encourage everyone to take part.”

The public survey is available through Leopardstown’s social media channels and via a dedicated Masterplan webpage, with further engagement planned through briefings, workshops and regular updates as the project progresses.
