8 – The number of goals scored in Saturday’s All Ireland Hurling Final Replay.  It was the highest number of green flags to be raised in a final since 1972 when Kilkenny beat Cork by 3-24 to 5-11.

83,519 – We can normally claim an All Ireland Final crowd to be the biggest at a sports event in Europe.  This time though the 82,270 at Croke Park for Clare’s triumph was eclipsed by the number who went to Wembley Stadium to see the Minnesota Vikings beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Good news for next year’s Croke Park Classic.

– The number of All Ireland Titles won by Cork in the last nine years of the TG4 Ladies Football Championship after a one point victory over Monaghan on Sunday.

64 – The course record equalling final round score of Shane Lowry at Carnoustie in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championships.  He just missed out by one stroke on winning the title.

18 – The number of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals won by Irish boxers at World and European Championships since May 2013.  Ciara Ginty of Mayo is the latest Gold Medallist after success at the World Women’s Junior Championships where she was also named boxer of the tournament.
