To win a fourth-ever men’s Six Nations Grand Slam, and a third in fifteen years, at the Aviva Stadium on St Patrick’s Day is pretty much the script of a sporting feel-good movie and while England playing the villain was never going to mean it was a certainty, in the end the team came through and the dream became a reality.

Add into the mix that this is a World Cup year, the Johnathon Sexton overtook Ronan O’Gara as the all-time leading points scorer in his last Guinness Six Nations game, that the England Captain was the Irish Head Coach’s son, and that 24 hours later the Irish U20’s secured their own double Grand Slam in Cork and there was a danger of this tipping over into ‘too much.’

But the winner for sport over fiction is there is only one reality with no alternative stories to pick from and this all happened over the past 48 hours.

Here is how Irish Rugby and all of its commercial supporters celebrated on social media…
