AIB kicked off it’s 2017 sponsorship campaign around the All Ireland Football Championships in Dublin yesterday with a colourful display of paint that would draw raised eyebrows were it to be let off in Croke Park over the summer.
That said it has provided a vivid colourful set of images using ambassadors Jack McCaffrey from Dublin, Aidan O’Shea from Mayo and Paddy McBrearty from Donegal.
The images are splashed across social media and mainstream newspapers this morning with AIB front and centre stage and stories ranging from each of the players’ return to the inter county scene after time away either travelling or in O’Shea’s case playing basketball in Sligo.
This is the 25th year of AIB’s association with the GAA and the link created between the Club and County Championships is again very much to the fore and central in capturing affinity with most GAA fans.
“We are proud to be backing both club and county, and delighted to now enter our third year sponsoring the GAA All-Ireland Football Championship,” said Denis O’Callaghan, Head of AIB Retail Banking.
“We believe that the hard work at club level is what fuels the county championship and we feel this is reflected in our partnerships with the GAA.”
“Like the AIB GAA Club Championships, the All-Ireland Football Championship is one of Ireland’s most unique competitions. We are especially pleased to be involved in one of the best sporting competitions in Ireland and we’re very excited to see what the championship will throw up this summer.”

AIB has drawn huge praise and awards for the activation of its GAA partnership and more quality work is expected over the coming months. It is likely once more that the assets will be used in television and outdoor promotion, a move which they began three years ago and which has since been strongly adopted by Vodafone in relation to Irish Rugby.
Sport for Business will follow the development of the campaign at regular intervals through the summer highlighting the motivation, activation and execution of the award winning team behind the campaign.
