Allianz Ireland has launched the third and final video of the Allianz Courage Chronicles, a series of videos with the company’s long-standing Paralympic brand ambassadors Ellen Keane, Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop.

The Courage Chronicles pull back the curtain on the trials and tribulations of Ireland’s elite athletes as they set their sights on representing Ireland on the global stage during such uncertain times.

The final video in the series features 4-time Paralympic gold medallist Michael McKillop.

In the video, filmed at Cruagh Woods in the Dublin Mountains and at Tallaght Athletics Club, Michael is seen training for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with his eyes firmly set on returning home with another medal as he comes towards the end of a stellar career. He talks about the determination that drove him to smash perceptions of what a boy with cerebral palsy could achieve, leading him to incredible glory on the world stage.

Allianz Ireland has been a proud partner of Paralympics Ireland since 2010 and has been a champion of Paralympic sport in Ireland. Allianz sponsored the first-ever live broadcasts of Para-Sport in Ireland during the London 2012 Paralympic Games on Eir Sport and again during the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games bringing coverage to the nation through RTÉ.

At a global level, Allianz was announced earlier this year as the Worldwide Insurance Partner of the Olympic & Paralympic Movements from 2021 to 2028. Through this partnership, Allianz will work with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee to propose innovative and integrated insurance solutions that support the Olympic and Paralympic Games, sports fans, national teams and athletes.

Speaking at the launch of the final video of The Courage Chronicles, Michael McKillop said; “I really enjoyed taking part in the Allianz Courage Chronicles series this year and I am very excited to share my story. Allianz has been a great support to me throughout my career and while it has been a long run into Tokyo 2020, I am very much looking forward to the Paralympic Games in great shape giving myself every chance to compete at my very best”

Marketing Communications Manager with Allianz Ireland, Valerie Hedin said: “In Allianz Ireland, we couldn’t be prouder of our long-standing association with Paralympics Ireland and have been delighted to be able to continue to support our ambassadors Michael, Ellen and Jason in the difficult circumstances of the past 12 months and the postponement of Tokyo 2020.”

“With Paralympics Ireland, we have a shared ambition to promote Para sport in Ireland and raise awareness of the elite athletes who dedicate their lives to their chosen sport. We’re delighted to launch the final video of The Courage Chronicles series today, focusing on Michael. His commitment to work harder than anyone else and his hard-won confidence in his abilities have allowed him to become one of the most well-regarded athletes in the country and we cannot wait to see what Tokyo 2020 has in store for him.”
