Bohemian Football Club has announced a new partnership with MG Motor Ireland becoming the club’s new Official Vehicle Partner.

Club players and manager Keith Long will drive 100 per cent electric vehicles in 2021, as the historic marque pushes on with its new electric range.

Charge points have also been installed at Dalymount Park in an initiative that backs up the club becoming a signatory to the United Nations Sports for Climate Action Framework.

“We want to play our part and minimise the environmental impact of the club. To do this, we are working towards improving efficiency and sustainability across the club at all levels,” said Sean McCabe, the clubs newly appointed Climate Justice Officer.

“However, we recognise the challenge of tackling climate change is enormous and requires everyone. We hope our commitment will inspire our fans, other sports clubs on the island, and the wider community and government to continue to raise their climate ambition as part of the global effort to limit global warming to 1.5°C.”

“If we fail to do so, the result will significantly worsen the risk of droughts, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people around the world, including many here in Ireland.”

“It is brilliant to announce these two positive steps today – our signing of the UN Sport for Climate Action Framework and our commercial partnership with MG Motor. There is a great fit between Bohemian FC and MG with aligned values and ethos,” said Bohemian FC Chief Operating Officer Daniel Lambert.

“To now have Keith Long and first-team players in fully electric vehicles is another key step in combating our impact on the environment and living up to our commitments under the framework.”

“We would encourage all fans of the club moving to electric vehicles to explore MG as a key club partner. Looking to our future beyond Covid-19, it is clear that the climate needs to be at the forefront of all our minds to ensure future generations can live safely.”

“We are delighted to partner with Bohemian FC as another important step in the launch of MG Motor into the Irish market,” said Gerard Rice, Country Manager for MG Ireland.
