All-Ireland winners Barney Rock and Damien Fitzhenry will be two of the legends of the GAA who will host exclusive tours of Croke Park Stadium and the GAA Museum over the summer as part of the Bord Gais Energy Legends Tour Series.

They will be joined by others including Sean Cavanagh from Tyrone, Graham Geraghty from Meath and Jackie Tyrell from Kilkenny on hosted tours where they will reflect on defining moments in their careers as well as the wider context of the GAA’s and Croke Park’s place in Irish culture and history.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the GAA Museum, and throughout the summer months, fans will be offered the chance to relive memorable moments in Croke Park’s history, experiencing the highs and lows from the player’s perspective.

The Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours are always a highlight of the GAA Museum season and this year we’re looking forward to them more than ever,” said Niamh McCoy, Director at the GAA Museum.

“As we celebrate our 20th birthday, we are welcoming back some of our favourite legends from previous years and we’re also lucky to have a number of new Gaelic games superstars taking part in the series.”

“We are delighted to continue our support of the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series this summer,” added Interim Managing Director of the sponsor Mark Prentice.

“The series celebrates the impact these great players have had during their careers and gives fans the opportunity to share in their unique experiences.”

Bord Gais Energy have been partners of the GAA for ten years now and the focus of their campaign this year is on building up the connection to customers through its Bord Gais Energy Rewards Club.

“Our sponsorship of the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series completes the trio of partnerships we’re involved in with the GAA and through the Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club, we’re delighted to have the opportunity to offer our customers unmissable experiences throughout the season, including complimentary places on each of this year’s tours,” said Prentice.

“There will also be two additional tours which will be available exclusively to our Rewards Club members that will be announced in the coming weeks.”

Barney Rock won three All-Stars during his career with Dublin and lifted Sam Maguire in the famous or infamous Final of 1983 which saw three Dublin and one Galway player sent off.  No doubt there will be a few comments about that on his tour as well as questions on his son Dean who is part of the current Dublin team bidding for a fourth in a row All Ireland title this year.
