The first Quarter-Final sees Tipperary take on Waterford before Galway and Dublin clash in the evening’s second fixture as all four sides battle it out for semi final places against Kilkenny and Cork at semple Stadium on August 18th.
Tipperary finished second in Group 2 with three wins and a draw to their name, edging Dublin into second place by virtue of score difference. Waterford will be playing in their very first knockout match after a breakthrough campaign at senior level which saw them collect two wins to claim third place.
Galway finished second in Group 1 with their only dropped points coming in their final group match against a rampant Kilkenny side and will present a stiff challenge to Dublin’s attempts to make the semi final for a second year in a row.
Both fixtures will be broadcast live on RTÉ Two as well as live on the RTÉ Player worldwide and will make up the first of four full live Gaelic matches on RTÉ Television over the weekend.
We do especially like the photography for the knock out stages with players from each of the six counties left standing captured on O’Brien’s Hurley workshop in Thurles during the week. This image above was brilliantly captured by Dan Sheridan.
