Chadwicks has launched a new sponsorship swap competition that will give one of its trade customers the chance to see their company logo on the front of Shelbourne FC’s men’s and women’s jerseys for League of Ireland games later this season.

The builders’ merchants group is Shelbourne’s current lead partner and is using that position to create a once-off brand opportunity for one of its customers, with the winning company taking over the front-of-shirt position for one men’s and one women’s League of Ireland fixture.

The package will include the jersey sponsorship for both matches, with the match-worn shirts then presented to the winning company after the games. Six complimentary tickets for each fixture will also be included.

The games to be played will be confirmed by Chadwicks and Shelbourne once the winning company has been selected.

The competition is open to Chadwicks trade customers, who can enter by completing a form at Chadwicks.ie/Shelbourne and answering a simple question.

Three correct entries will then be selected at random and put forward to a public vote on social media. The company that receives the most votes will win the prize.

The competition opened on June 17 and will run until July 6.

“We’re excited to work with our partners, Shelbourne FC, to offer this brilliant brand and profiling opportunity for one of our trade customers, which will hopefully be of tremendous value to the winner,” said Tara Brennan, Marketing and Development Director at Chadwicks.

“We are immensely grateful for the support of our customers, and this is a fantastic way for us to show support in return.”

The initiative is an interesting extension of a club sponsorship, taking a core asset normally held by a lead partner and turning it into a customer engagement opportunity.

It also reflects the growing value placed on League of Ireland visibility, particularly when men’s and women’s teams are included in the same activation.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for a company to gain the brand exposure that comes from being on the front of the Shelbourne FC jersey for both a men’s and women’s League of Ireland game,” added Tomás Quinn, CEO of Shelbourne Football Club.

“It’s a very generous offer from our lead partner Chadwicks to their trade customers, and I imagine there will be plenty of interest.”

It adds another layer to a partnership that has already made Chadwicks a prominent part of the club’s identity.

For them, it provides a neat way to put customers at the centre of the sponsorship, while giving a trade business a level of exposure normally associated with major commercial investment in the game.
