Each weekend we highlight some of the performances that light up the Irish sporting landscape.

This weekend we highlight action in Gaelic Football, Hurling, Boxing, Basketball, Cricket, Athletics, Rugby and Media.

This week’s Champions of the Weekend is brought to you by PwC, one of Sport for Business’s key partners and a supporter of our annual 30 Under 30 Highlighting of Young Talent in the Business of Sport.

An Daingean and Ballygunner

Two great Champions crowned at the end of an AIB Club GAA Championship season that was packed with drama and excitement, right up to the final point that completed a clean sweep for Kerry clubs on the football side.

Irish Boxing

A great night at the National Stadium saw Olympians and World Champions compete in front of a packed home crowd, with the event broadcast worldwide on the TG4 YouTube channel.

Basketball Ireland

One of the busiest weekends in any sport is the Domino’s National Cup Finals, and the crowds who flocked to the National Basketball Arena were treated to great games and great winners, with Ballincollig in the Men’s and Killester in the Women’s bringing home the two main events.

Ireland Women’s Cricket

The Ireland Women’s Cricket team secured an opening win against Papua New Guinea in Nepal as they compete in the Qualification Tournament for the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup.

Mark English

The Donegal athlete broke his own National 800 M indoor record competing in Luxembourg over the weekend.

Leinster Rugby

It was a late show to secure the win in France, but Leinster topped their pool in the European Champions Cup and are now assured a home tie when the knockout stages come around.

TG4

With live coverage of the AIB Club Championship Finals from Croke Park, the Domino’s National Cup Basketball Finals from Tallaght and the Elite Boxing Ireland National Championships from the National Stadium, this was a major weekend for TG4 and evidence of the station’s importance as a free-to-air broadcaster of Ireland’s best sporting moments.
