Each weekend we select performances from Irish sport that are worthy of highlighting. This weekend we are highlighting performances across Gaelic Games, football, cycling and hockey.
This week’s Champions of the Weekend is brought to us by Dublin City Council one of Sport for Business’ key partners.
Clare Hurling
Bouncing back from the loss of Shane O’Donnell, Clare got their first Allianz League win of the season against Limerick in a full blooded contest at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

Kilmacud Crokes
Staying with hurling Kilmacud Crokes brought 15 coach loads down the road to support Dublin against Waterford as part of a Friends of Dublin Hurling promotion. These are the kind of trips that forge lifelong memories.
Gaelic Football
There may yet be some changes coming, with notification of same perhaps as early as tonight but there can be no doubting that the new rules have created some massively entertaining, and at times exhausting to watch never mind play games in the Allianz League. There was hardly a game across all four divisions that did not set a county ground alight this weekend.
Shelbourne Women
Victory in the President’s Cup sees Shelbourne heading into next weekend’s opening round of fixtures in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division of the League of Ireland in fine fettle.
Irish Women’s Hockey
A final shootout defeat to New Zealand meant that Ireland came up just short in the FIH Nations Cup in Santiago, Chile but the tournament saw many highs including a 2-1 win over the USA on Saturday.
Lara Gillespie
The cyclist came within a split second of victory in the Fenix Omloop van het Hageland in Belgium on Sunday, continuing her fine start to the season.
SPORT FOR BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE
