Guinness is activating its dual partnership with Irish Rugby and the RBS 6 Nations by providing fans who ‘check-in’ using the Guinness Plus App with the chance to win travel prizes around the Guinness Summer Series of international matches in the build up to the World Cup against England and Wales.

For Ireland’s opening game of this year’s Six Nations Championship against Italy on Saturday 7th February, rugby fans who ‘check in’ to the pub using the Guinness Plus App before 11.00pm on the day of the match day will be in with a chance to win ‘Le French Experience’ when Ireland take on France the following week.

This will include a pre-match meal in a top class French restaurant with two friends, and tickets to watch the game followed by a post-match meet and greet with a French rugby legend.

The rolling set of ‘money can’t but experiences will then restart on the 14th February when Ireland take on France.  Those who check in then will be in with a chance to win a VIP weekend in Dublin as Ireland host England the following Sunday, 1st March.

The Guinness Plus App has been central to the brands association with sport over the past year and has expanded to soccer and golf experiences as well.  It’s a good mix of promotion and reward through free drink as well as the long term promise of something special through the competition.

Guinness will also be undertaking a heavyweight TV, in stadium, print and online advertising campaign around the duration of the RBS 6 Nations.

Listen back to Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business and former junior health minister Roisín Shortall, debate the role of alcohol in sponsorship of sport on Today FM on Wednesday night here.

“The RBS Six Nations is a very special tournament that rugby fans look forward to as soon as the season kicks-off – as a player, it’s a competition that you want to be involved in every year,” said O’Brien.

“2015 is going to be very important for Irish rugby and I’m looking forward to being part of it.”

“As always, we know our fans will be getting behind us and the support in last season’s tournament no doubt contributed to our success on the field.”

“The experiences available on the Guinness Plus App, offers fans the chance to see Ireland in action both home and away during the RBS Six Nations, as well as the opportunity to travel to two of the best stadiums in Europe during the Guinness Summer Series when Ireland face Wales and England at the Millennium stadium and Twickenham!”

Three more extraordinary rewards for the RBS Six Nations Championship matches against England, Wales and Scotland will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Guinness is A Proud Partner of Irish Rugby and the RBS Six Nations,” said Guinness Marketing Director Stephen Kelly.

“Ireland’s victory in last year’s Championship in Joe Schmidt’s first season in charge was incredible and I’m sure all Irish fans are looking forward to building on the success from November’s Guinness Series clean sweep in what is going to be a massive year for the side.”

“Once again we’ll be offering extraordinary rugby rewards linked to each of the five RBS 6 Six Nations matches through the Guinness Plus App.”
