Circle K has reinforced its commitment to grassroots football by naming Monksland United FC as the latest winner in its monthly FAI Clubs competition, an initiative linked to the FAI Club Mark Programme and designed to reward excellence at the community level.
The Athlone-based club topped the November leaderboard, with Ballymun United and Ashbourne United AFC finishing second and third respectively. Each club received €1,500 worth of kit, delivering direct, practical support to players and volunteers.
Running until March, the competition will distribute a combined €60,000 in value, split between €30,000 in kit and €30,000 in cash, as well as a VIP training experience with players from the Republic of Ireland senior teams.
Circle K Extra members are also incentivised, with a weekly €500 cash prize awarded to the member who accumulates the most points.
Since the partnership began, Circle K has invested more than €130,000 directly into clubs across Ireland, aligning brand objectives with long-term benefits for the sport. The programme encourages clubs to demonstrate best practice off the pitch, reinforcing sustainability and participation.
The campaign will culminate in a Grand Finale in March, where one club will win €10,000, four clubs will receive €5,000 each, one club will secure a VIP national team training experience, and five clubs will receive three complete sets of kit.
Announcing the winners, Ciara Foxton, Managing Director of Circle K Ireland, highlighted the strong community engagement driving the programme, noting the passion Irish communities continue to show for their local clubs.
Sport for Business Perspective
The initiative demonstrates how sponsorship can be activated through participation-based mechanics, linking customer engagement with community impact. The campaign forms part of Circle K’s wider partnership with the FAI Club Mark Programme, which recognises excellence in governance, management and grassroots development.
