WNL Awards O'Gorman and Rossiter
The Continental Tyres Women’s National League received a massive vote of confidence from it’s high profile sponsor yesterday with Marketing Communications Head Peter Robb saying the company was ‘absolutely delighted’ with the first year of the relationship.

Given that Continental’s other soccer partnerships are with UEFA, the German FA and the English FA they know how to set a high bar and the praise is both well intended and well deserved.

League Champions for the first time Wexford Youths were honoured with no fewer than six representatives on the Team of the Year and Ciara Rossiter claiming the award for Young Player of the Year.

Unfortunately Club Founder Mick Wallace was otherwise engaged in court yesterday but can take great pride in what he built and has achieved in the South East.

The main award went to Aine O’Gorman of UCD Waves who has already gathered 75 international caps at the age of 25 and is looking forward to more in the Euro 2017 qualifiers and beyond.

“We’ve seen the draw now and we have to be confident in our ability to take the next step and qualify for a big international finals at senior level.” she told an audience of players, officials, senior members of the FAI and Continental in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

Continental have had a strong presence at all the games played throughout the season and are already planning even greater engagement with the clubs and through the national team camps starting with the launch of the new season in August.

Before then the Irish national team has an important date with the United States in San José on May 10th a game which will be televised live on Setanta and will be deserving of a substantial audience.
