Today marks 26 days until 25,000 runners toe the line to run the 26 miles or 42 kilometres of the Irish Life Dublin Marathon.

The race returns to the streets of Dublin after falling to Covid and lockdowns in each of 2020 and 2021.

A survey of runners taking on the race showed the primary motivation for taking part for 36% of runners is to improve their personal best time, with almost one-third running to improve their overall health and wellness.

Almost a quarter want to conquer the challenge of finishing the marathon. Every runner will be supported along the way by thousands of spectators who will line the streets of Dublin to cheer them on.

Every runner who crosses the line will receive the 2022 Irish Life Dublin Marathon medal. The medal commemorates 100 years since the formation of the Irish state and depicting Dublin Castle, where power was formally handed to the new Irish government following Ireland’s independence.

The race is being run in person under the Irish Life banner for the first time this year.

Places in the race have long been sold out and there will be an estimated 5,500 runners coming into Dublin from an estimated 60 countries around the world.

Sports Tours International have already opened a waitlist for entries to the 2023 race.
