Cricket World CupCricket Ireland will announce a major new commercial sponsor later today.  It will be in support of the Cricket Ireland Academy, and we believe the new addition to those supporting the sport here will be a major multinational company with an existing presence in Ireland.

The new partnership is a major step forward for Cricket Ireland and comes ahead of a year in which the national team will not only compete in the ICC World Cup but also play England and Australia on Irish soil.
The new sponsor will be an international brand that recognises the value of global sporting achievement and building from the foundations up.

The announcement will be in keeping with a number of strong recent partnership deals in sport and likely to be one the longest single contract deals announced in Irish sport.

This will give confidence and capacity to bring more young talented players through the development programmes that are now to be significantly bolstered.

A good performance in the World Cup in Australia next February will tee Ireland up for the next ICC Continental Cup which they have won in four of the last five years.  Victory there next time around will set up a play off match with the lowest ranked of the existing 10 full test playing nations and place Ireland very much at the top table of one of the world’s most popular and valuable sports.

Today will be just reward for a team on and off the pitch that have continually delivered over the past five years and who are now on the cusp of a very bright future.

That the new partner is willing to invest in that future will release the full benefit of how sport and business work best together.

Join us online and on social media from just before 1pm today when we reveal the identity of the new sponsors.
