It was a weekend like any other in football with VAR causing consternation among fans and commentators.
Anfield was the scene for the biggest game of the season to date but today’s video comes from a little further down the British football pecking order with the Scilly Isles League, and both its participating teams, the focus of an amusing experiment in 5G conducted by Vodafone.
They substituted Fan for Video to produce the world first Fan Assisted Referee and used the power of the network to call on the advice of fans across the isles.
If the decisions were questioned there won’t be long for the Garrison Gunners and the Woolpack Wanderers to make amends. They play each other 17 times during the season.
It may not quite match up in terms of investment with some of Vodafone’s other sporting partnerships but it does tell the story well of what we might have coming down the tracks…
