The rugby season is approaching its conclusion with Munster, Leinster and ulster all involved in semi final action for the Guinness PRO12 and Connacht awaiting confirmation of who they will facre in the semi final of the play offs to secure a repeat spot in next season’s Champions’ Cup.

If Gloucester win this Friday’s Challenge Cup Final they will be Connacht’s opponent the following weekend in a winner takes all semi final.  If not the men of the west will travel to Northampton.

If they come through that they will have home advantage the following weekend for a play off final against the winner of the second semi final between Stade Francais and Cardiff Blues.

These will be Pat Lam’s final games in charge of the team and we will have an opportunity to hear his thoughts, alongside the sporting wisdom of Joe Canning and Katie Walsh at a Bord Gais Energy Leadership event in Galway this Thursday.

In the Guinness PRO12 we now know that Munster will have the home changing room if they beat Ospreys at Thomond Park on Saturday week, but that if Munster and Scarlets win through that they will have to wear their away kit.

Both decisions were made by way of coin tosses at the Aviva Stadium yesterday.
