
The winners emerged on top from a penalty shoot-out having finished the game and then 20 minutes of extra time without a score against Ulster University.
It was the first time in the 100 year history of the tournament that DCU has won and they did so after playing three games in as many days.
It is some achievement doubling up with the Universities Gaelic Footballers who won the Electric Ireland sponsored Sigerson Cup last week.
The GAA teams are sponsored by Bank of Ireland but DCU’s footballers played last night without a sponsor brand on their shirts.
The losing Ulster University team are sponsored, as is the whole sports programme at the institution, by healthcare specialist Randox.
