The FAI and the department of Foreign Affairs have launched a joint promotion with responsible drinking organisation DrinkAware and Doc Morris Pharmacy ahead of the Euro 2012 Championships this summer.
The Euro 2012 Survival Guide contains tips on travelling safely to and in Poland, it covers insurance, travel, what to do in the event of a problem while in Poland and how to contact the local embassy; as well as responsible drinking advice from drinkaware.ie and tips on staying sun safe from Doc Morris Pharmacy.
Previous major football championships have proven a major boost to drink sales and the promotion of responsible drinking is a high priority for Diageo who are long time supporters of the FAI and the Championships themselves through the Carlsberg brand.
The advice focuses on Poland where Ireland will play all three of their group games against Croatia, Spain and Italy.  It is perhaps just as well that we were not drawn in Ukraine where there were bombs over the weekend and talk in Germany of a potential boycott of the Championships because of human rights concerns.
A total of 15,000 copies of the guide will be published and distributed at airports and ferry services in the run up to the tournament.
