The newly established Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership has begun the public consultation phase of its development of a new strategy for physical activity in the city.
An online questionnaire has been sent to all of the clubs in the city, and is being promoted to all individuals as well via an online link on the Dublin City Council website.
“It’s an important part of the process of evaluating where we are now and where we want to be by 2020,” said Shauna McIntyre, manager of the Partnership speaking to Sport for Business.
“We have been working with our board members to develop a themed approach to how we are developing a greater level of strategic planning on how sport and wellbeing are catered for in Dublin.”
“This phase of consultation will run through to the end of March and give those who are using our services the chance to have their say on where they think future investment and programmes might be focused.”
“Dublin City Council invests €15 million a year in sport and wellbeing.”
“We need to ensure that this spend is going in the areas that will make Dublin a city of sport, physical activity and community that serves all of the people who live here, work here and visit us.”
The partnership was established at the end of 2015 and has representatives from Dublin GAA, Leinster Rugby, the FAI, the Federation of Irish Sport, Sport for Business, councillors and Dublin Institute of Technology on its advisory Board.
