Today is National Fitness Day which will be marked across the country with events taking place in and outside gyms, pools and other venues.
In Today’s Lunchtime Edition we will capture some of the best images and activities being shared.
It is also the opening day of the Dublin SportsFest which will run with a host of special activities over the course of the next week.
This is the fourth edition of the initiative which was created in 2018 by the Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership of which our own Rob Hartnett is the chair.
“We wanted to create a focus for sport and getting physical using the many great facilities that we have in Dublin,” said Hartnett.
“Last year we went virtual and this year it is great to be back active in-person across the City.”
Today’s activities kick off with a National Fitness day ParkHiit in Rockfield Park at lunchtime and there is also a Family Virtual Mile with Athletics Ireland, BoxFit, boat trips and fitness classes across the DCC facilities.
The return of Park Run to eight venues across the city on Saturday will be another highlight, as well as GAA for Ma’s events, men’s Walking Football and a Magnificent 7 Series of orienteering.
There are Olympic Taster sessions and a Disney Playmaker event on Saturday, all of which are wrapped up under the banner of this year’s SportsFest.
It promises to be a great celebration of activity and you can check out all the details at www.dublinsportsfest.ie
