Munster Rugby has secured a significant new long-term commercial partner with Shannon-headquartered Ei Electronics, signing a five-year sponsorship agreement that will run through to the end of the 2030/31 season.

Under the agreement, the EI Electronics logo will appear on the right sleeve of all Munster jerseys across both the senior men’s and women’s squads, giving the brand exposure domestically and across the United Rugby Championship and European competition.

EI Electronics was established in 1988 and employs around 1,100 people at its Shannon base, with a further 250 staff across overseas subsidiaries. More than 100 million of its smoke and carbon monoxide alarm products are in use internationally.

EI Electronics Founder and Chairman Mick Guinee said the company had been looking for the right opportunity to partner with Munster for some time.

“For several years we have been seeking the right opportunity to sponsor our provincial team, and now I believe we have found it; our logo on the sleeve of all jerseys will give exposure to our brand nationally and internationally.”

He also pointed to the geographic connection between the company and the province, with employees drawn from Clare, Limerick, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.

Munster remains one of Ireland’s strongest regional sporting identities. For an indigenous company headquartered in Shannon but operating internationally, the province bridges local affinity and overseas visibility.

Munster Head of Commercial and Marketing Dave Kavanagh said the province was looking forward to bringing the Ei Electronics brand to European audiences through the jersey partnership.

“We are delighted to be partnering with such a successful Irish company like Ei Electronics. We are looking forward to bringing the Ei Electronics brand to European audiences through the Ei logo on the sleeve of all our jerseys for both the senior men’s and women’s squads.”

Sport for Business Perspective

Three elements make this particularly interesting.

The first is duration. A five-year agreement gives Munster commercial certainty that short-term sponsorship cannot provide. It also gives Ei Electronics time to develop the association beyond simply appearing on a sleeve.

The second is authenticity. The company is not trying to manufacture a regional connection for marketing purposes. Its Shannon base and Munster-wide workforce give the partnership a natural foundation.

The third is including the senior women’s team on the same jersey asset.  Commercial agreements around professional rugby can still be structured primarily around the men’s game, with women’s properties treated separately or added later. Here the sponsorship explicitly covers both senior teams from the outset.

At a time when the economics of professional rugby continue to require close attention, this is a long-term, locally rooted agreement that adds real value for Munster.
