Sport for Social Good 2022

The 2022 Sport for Social Good Event, in partnership with Allianz, will take place online and in person on Thursday, February 24th.

The in-person event is a brilliant way to get teams back together, to renew old friendships and forge new ones.

It will take place in Doheny and Nesbitt on Baggott Street on the afternoon of the 24th February between 4 and 6 pm.

As we find our feet on the journey back to full in-person network events though we are also aware of the power of online to spread the message far and wide.

Great Speakers

In the online session in the morning, we will be joined by special guest Matt Rogan, one of the most inspiring leaders in the business of sport over the last decade to discuss how sport can lead the way in recovering from the last two years as a society.

We will also chat with Valerie Hedin of Allianz and Niamh Murphy, Head of Planning at In the Company of Huskies to give us unmatched insight on the creation of a campaign that can have a real positive social impact.

Kelly Cooke from the United Rugby Championship will talk to us about the Take on Tomorrow campaign which aims to use rugby as a tool for community impact and social change.

We will wrap up the event with a chat with Bohemian FC Chief Operating Officer Daniel Lambert about how a North Dublin football club has stepped up with a social conscience and grown stronger as a result within its community.

There will be features and discussions around some of the most important ways in which sport and business have come together to create Social Good over the past year in a morning online session you will not want to miss.

Excitement

Then there is real excitement growing around the first opportunity we have as a network to come together, to renew old friendships and make new ones when we gather in person that afternoon at a central Dublin location for a relaxed opportunity to meet with the morning speakers, share experiences,  and everyone will walk away with a signed copy of Matt’s book ‘All to Play For’.

This really is an event it will be worth coming out for and we look forward to meeting up again to do some good together.

Sport for Business Perspective

You will be inspired to hear from and meet with Matt at our first in-person event for two years.
It will be a great opportunity to renew old friendships and create new ones. We have been apart too long. This is an exciting way in which we can begin to come back together as colleagues.

Matt Rogan

Matt’s career has been spent creating and scaling businesses in the sports and entertainment arena, as well as actively engaging in the wider sports industry to drive productive change.

Having led international P&Ls at iconic brands MTV and NBA, he co-founded Two Circles in 2011, leading the business as Chief Executive until 2016, through acquisition by WPP and thereafter as Executive Chairman.

During that period the business grew to just under 200 people servicing over 100 clients, including the six biggest sports rights holders in the world by revenue.

Two Circles were voted in the top three for leadership in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For, and was twice the UK Sports Agency of the Year.

Bruin Sports Capital purchased the business from WPP in March 2020. Matt stepped down as Executive Chairman at that point and threw himself into writing All to Play For – How Sport can Reboot Our Future, a piece of work that is laser-focused on what Sport for Social Good is and can be.

Former England Rugby international Ugo Monye described it thus “Sport Gives us all a platform to make change happen. This superb book shows why our time is now.”

Matt is a regular speaker around the evolution of the business of sport, and the implications of that evolution on wider industry. You may recognise his voice from a number of podcasts and you will now have an opportunity to meet him in Dublin.

Matt will be with us for the online session on the day between 10 AM and 12 Noon and then he will be one of the special guests joining us live for our first in-person event for two years, that same afternoon between 4 PM and 6 PM.

Because learning to be better is central to what we do every day we are delighted to offer a signed copy of Matt’s book to all those of our members who are able to join us for the in-person event.
