Members of the General Assembly of the Football Association of Ireland have ratified the appointment of Nadine Conlon to the FAI Board, strengthening the Association’s governance expertise at board level.

Conlon joins the Board as an Independent Director, bringing extensive experience from the financial services sector, where she has worked closely with boards and executive leadership teams in complex, highly regulated environments. She currently serves as Group Company Secretary with FBD Insurance, advising on corporate governance, regulatory compliance and board effectiveness.

Her professional background includes significant responsibility for strategic governance leadership, board advisory, regulatory reporting and embedding best practice governance frameworks across large organisations.

Conlon is a Fellow of The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland and served as President of the Institute in Ireland until November 2025, reflecting her recognised standing within the governance profession nationally. During her tenure, she was actively involved in promoting enhanced governance standards, board accountability and professional development across both public and private sectors.

Her academic qualifications underline that governance expertise. Conlon holds an LLB (Hons) in Irish Law, a Master’s in Management and Corporate Governance, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainability for Business — a combination that blends legal insight, governance theory and strategic management capability.

Welcoming her appointment, FAI President Paul Cooke said the addition of Conlon will further strengthen the Board’s skillset.

“On behalf of the Association, I’d like to welcome Nadine Conlon to the FAI Board following her ratification,” Cooke said. “Nadine will bring a combination of legal expertise and governance experience to the role of Independent Director that will make the Board even stronger and help us to best represent everyone involved in Irish football.”

The appointment comes as the FAI continues to embed enhanced governance structures and financial oversight measures introduced in recent years. Independent Directors play a central role in ensuring transparency, regulatory compliance and strategic accountability across the Association’s operations.

Conlon’s experience advising boards in highly regulated financial environments is expected to contribute to ongoing governance reform, risk management and long-term strategic planning within Irish football.

Her ratification by the General Assembly underscores the Association’s continued focus on strengthening board capability, aligning with modern governance standards and ensuring the FAI is positioned to support the sustainable development of the game at all levels.
