Eircom is putting fans centre stage as part of its sponsorship activation around this year’s All Ireland Football Championship.
Dublin football star Michael Darragh MacAuley joined eircom’s team of GAA ambassadors Tomás O’Sé, Ciaran Whelan, David Brady and Brendan Devenney in eircom’s head office in Dublin yesterday to launch a range of online and social media initiatives for supporters.
This season, eircom is introducing a new feature where the public can use the new audio social network BOAST for free to record and share their views on players of the championship.
There is a dedicated eircom GAA channel and the best ‘Boaster’ throughout the season will win tickets to the All-Ireland Senior Football Final, along with a place as a panellist on eircom’s regular post match review videos alongside two of eircom’s ambassadors.
These videos will feature throughout the summer on www.eircom.ie/gaa.
The popular ‘Your Shout Counts’ has is also back again, giving GAA fans the chance win prizes while getting behind their favourite player or county team by “shouting” on eircom’s website and through social media channels.
The Win, Lose or Draw game also returns, putting fans’ knowledge of the championship to the test as they attempt to predict the outcomes of upcoming Championship matches.
This element of forecasting and competing against celebrity players is a central part of how Leagues are marketed in the UK and the US and have proven popular with GAA fans who have never been slow coming forward with their opinions.
Provincial winners of Win, Lose or Draw will also win tickets to the All-Ireland Final. Fans can also show off their expertise in the sport via the Weekly Quiz which offers up weekly match tickets and smartphones as prizes.
“We are thrilled to be entering our fifth year as sponsor of the All-Ireland Football Senior Championship and we are very proud to be offering GAA fans one of the best interactive experiences online throughout the season,” said Lisa Comerford, eircom Director of Brand and Communications.
“Launching our dedicated eircom GAA channel on the BOAST app is extremely exciting for us, and we hope that supporters are looking forward to becoming real Boasters.”
“I’ve no doubt it will be another thrilling Championship and we look forward to hearing the views of our Ambassadors throughout the season on our dedicated GAA site.”
“The action of the last few weeks has really captured the imagination of our members and supporters across all four provinces and it reminds us of the importance of our championships,” added GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail.
“As GAA Football Championship sponsors for the last five years eircom have worked with us to promote our games and I laud their new GAA Boast App which will provide county supporters with a vehicle to give feedback on the teams and games that light up our summer.”
