Three-time Champion Jockey Colin Keane yesterday visited Festina Lente, Ireland’s top equine and horticultural learning charity, to give a riding lesson to some of the children at the centre ahead of the Longines Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown and The Curragh on Saturday, 10th September and Sunday, 11th September.

Festina Lente is the charity partner on day one of the Longines Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown Racecourse.

The charity employs 60 people and touches the lives of 40,000 people with special needs each year. It was founded 35 years ago and is in the process of moving to a new centre near where it has always operated but has now outgrown near Bray in County Wicklow.

It is a great cause doing wonderful work and really making a difference in people’s lives.

Getting the support of the horseracing and wider equine sector as it does is very important, and Keane’s visit is the latest example of how it is seeking to raise its profile and its fundraising capacity.
