The fixtures for the Irish Women’s Rugby team at next year’s Rugby World Cup in England have been confirmed this morning with Ireland facing World Champions New Zealand at the home of Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, September 7th.
Ireland will open their tournament against Japan at Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton on Sunday, 24th August, at noon.
They will then face Spain in their second outing at Franklin’s Gardens one week later, with a similar 12 noon Kick-off, before concluding the Pool stages against the Black Ferns in Brighton on Sunday, 7 September, with a Kick-off time of 2.45 pm.
The top two teams from each Pool will progress to the Quarter-Finals.
If Ireland wins the group, they will play the runners-up in the group of France, South Africa, Italy and Brazil. If they finish second, they will play the winner of that group. Both of those games will be played in Sandy Park, Exeter.
Winning the group would also avoid a likely semi-final encounter with England, the favourites for the tournament and to emerge from Group A.
The host nation’s clash with the USA will open the tournament on the evening of Friday, August 22nd.
The two semi-finals will be played at Ashton Gate in Bristol on Friday, September 19th, and Saturday, September 20th, with the final at the Allianz Stadium (Twickenham) on Saturday, September 27th.
Fans can apply for tickets for all matches from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, 5 November, until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, 19 November.
