GAA clubs across the country have until Friday the 5th of October to enter Ulster Bank GAA Force – an initiative which supports the grassroots of the game by offering the chance to win support packages to refurbish and upgrade their facilities.
Over 400 clubs throughout the country entered the inaugural programme last year and Ulster Bank, official sponsor of the GAA Football All-Ireland Championship, is now calling on clubs to register for this year’s competition on www.ulsterbank.com/gaa.
One club will receive the top prize of a support package worth €25,000 and four runners-up (one from each province) will receive a package worth €5,000.
The winning clubs will then carry out the improvements to their GAA facilities during the 2012 Ulster Bank GAA Force Winning Weekend on 24th and 25th November. The first 100 clubs to register have already received a mini support package and there are now just two weeks left to complete the short application process.
In a bid to encourage more clubs to enter before the last minute, those who complete their entry before September 27th will be entered into an additional prize draw to win 20 footballs for the club.
GAA Force was a huge success last year, said Ulster Bank Manager and Senior All Ireland winner Sean Óg Ó Hailpín. “The initiative enabled communities across the country to pull together in working to improve their local GAA club. The GAA Force weekend gets the community pulling together to do some of the works that are needed but which always get pushed back when the action is at its busiest.”
Ulster Bank is also offering a free downloadable ‘GAA club cover image’ tool to create a new club background for facebook, twitter and other online resources that are increasingly the main way in which clubs communicate with players and members. Clubs who who creates their new ‘cover photo’ using the tool will be entered into a draw to win GAA merchandise.
The December Sport for Business Members’ Round Table will focus on social media and will have a particular element looking at how clubs are using it to best effect.  To register an interest in participating in this event please contact us here.
