A mosaic portrait of GAA founder Michael Cusack made up of hundreds of photos of GAA volunteers, will be part of the Association’s work to mark the 140th anniversary of its founding.

The image will hang in the newly refurbished Cusack Stand at Croke Park.

The refurbishment theme is the vibrant spirit of volunteerism that has driven the Association since 1884, and this will be one of the flagship pieces envisaged for the stand.

Volunteers from across the GAA are invited to send in images from across the country and worldwide.

The image must be a head and shoulders shot of the volunteer, who must be over 18 and given permission, against a plain, bright background, with a minimum file size of 4MB.

Pictures capture a moment in time, and the idea of being in something that will be on display for as long as the stadium is in operation and in history books or whatever might take its place forever is pretty compelling.

The Cusack Stand is currently undergoing a €12 million refurbishment plan, which includes replacing all the seats in the stadium arena and upgrading and reshaping the facilities used for events and meetings on the fifth floor.

We look forward to hosting a Sport for Business event there soon.
