RTÉ Sport and BBC Sport Northern Ireland are to show live coverage of this weekend’s Women’s Hockey series between Ireland and Great Britain at Queens University Belfast.
It is the first time that Ireland has played on home soil since the dramatic win over Canada in the Olympic Qualifier in 2019.
Great Britain and Ireland are in the same group in the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer and as reigning Olympic Champions, they will present a real test for the Irish Women.
The series is sponsored by Softco and the three games will be broadcast on the RTÉ Player with the second game on Sunday being shown on RTÉ 2 from 4-30, coming off the back of the Irish Men’s Rugby team playing in Edinburgh on Virgin Media One. Sunday’s game starts at 5 pm with Saturday’s at 2 pm and Monday’s at 3 pm.
Ger Canning will provide commentary for the RTÉ Player on Saturday and Monday.
Sunday’s coverage will be hosted by Evanne Ní Chuillin with Gillian Pinder and Cliodhna Sargent in the studio and George Hamilton on commentary alongside Sarah Scott.
BBC Sport NI will also show all three games on the BBC Player and the BBC Sport NI Website.
“The World cup matches in 2018 and the Olympic qualifiers in 2019 provided Irish sports fans with some of the most dramatic moments we’ve witnessed by Irish athletes on the world stage,” said Ní Chuillin.
“We can’t wait to follow the fortunes of Sean Dancer’s squad in Tokyo, and this series of matches against the Olympic champions will whet our appetite for the next exciting chapter for these phenomenal Irish sportswomen.”
