The unique event will see sixteen teams from across the Basketball Ireland National Leagues competing to be crowned as National Champions.
Last year’s inaugural event took place at Dundrum Town Centre and saw DCU Saints pick up the men’s title, while Ambassador UCC Glanmire were crowned women’s champions.
This year’s competition is set to be just as fierce, with Templeogue, UCD Marian, IT Carlow Basketball and DBS Éanna just some of the men’s teams who will go to battle, while Courtyard Liffey Celtics, Fr Mathews, Pyrobel Killester and reigning champions, Ambassador UCC Glanmire will be some of the many teams vying for glory in the women’s competition.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the Hula Hoops 3×3 competition back once more this year,” said Basketball Ireland Commercial Manager Conor Meany.
“It’s set to be a hugely exciting event at Bray Seafront. 3×3 is such an exciting form of the game and it will be great for people to be able to see it in Ireland on this scale yet again.”
“With some of the top players in the country playing, it should be a great day of basketball and it will definitely be worth coming down to Wicklow to see what 3×3 is all about.”
“We are all ready for a great event in Bray on Saturday, May 18th and Hula Hoops is delighted to be supporting 3×3 basketball once more this year,” added Karen Hurley, Senior Brand Manager for Tayto Snacks.
“3×3 is an extremely exciting format of the game, and this tournament will showcase some of Ireland’s best basketball talent in a very unique setting. This is the second annual Hula Hoops 3×3 and it’s shaping up to be a great day of action.”
Games tip off from 9.30am at Bray Seafront, with the top two from each group qualifying for the semi-final stages.
Admission on the day is free.
